Past Life

Coming soon. A more detailed background and summary of past successes, failures, and near misses. To suffice at this point- here are some highlights. I started retail stores selling watches (TimesUp!) at age 18 while still in college.

From there, I moved over to the area of Credit Improvement where I co-authored 3 books in the area of finance- How to Improve Your Credit, How to Budget and Finance Your Money, and How to Apply for Credit.

We sold the books through seminars, newspapers, and ultimately had an informercial. It was produced by Hawthorn Media out of Iowa, which has also produced Ed Beckley, who was the first person to make $1 Million through the informercial channel.

I left there and moved into financial services, landing at the company that ultimately became CitiGroup. I spent six years hiring and training sales people to sell insurange, mutual funds, and mortgages- for full commission…at NIGHT!

Indeed, you can learn great skills recruiting people for full commission jobs.

My first foray into the Internet started in March of 1996. The creation of VirtualSellers.com was molded from my desire to write and sell a book.

I had heard about this Internet thing and wanted someone to do three simple things-

  1. build a web site
  2. process and clear my credit card order
  3. send me a check and mailing label

All of which today sounds simple. In 1996, that was NO EASY FEAT! Thus, VirtualSellers was born to provide just such a service.

The end result of VirtualSellers, which became public under VDOT, was the company should have been, and had the opportunity at hand, to become what Paypal years later accomplished.

Oh well, our lives move on.

So, here we are today, with many companies, projects, and opportunities before us. BigBamboo, LLC is working hard to create successful people, companies, and lasting legacies.
